The Boston Opportunity Agenda (BOA) is a public/ private partnership that works to increase dramatically the pace and scale of change in education for all children in Boston, with a focus on students who experience the least access to successful pathways.The BOA recently highlighted ACE Mentor Program and its collaboration with Autodesk, Nitsch, Elkus Manfredi, and Gilbane to provide paid summer internship opportunities for our students. We are so grateful to our employers, and particularly Kellyanne Mahoney at Autodesk, for making these summer opportunities possible for our students, and for the recognition of the potential of this work.Read more about the collaboration here.

Speed rotation through the disciplines

On Thursday, October 13, ACE students were invited to Wentworth Institute of Technology for our kickoff event. Students were invited to rotate through activities in five disciplines: architecture, landscape architecture, structural engineering, electrical engineering, and construction management scheduling. Thank you to all our supporters for coming out for a night of fellowship and networking to support ACE Mentor Program. A huge thank you to our Governor Charlie Baker, our speaker Yordy Tesfaye of Shawmut and ACE alumna, and to our presenting sponsor Boylston Properties. We raised $541,000 in one night! This year, we also broke through the $1 million limit. We have awarded $1,057,500 in scholarships since we started, with your help and support.

A huge thank you to Suffolk Construction for welcoming our students for tours of the Northeastern University science and laboratory building site on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We started at the top of the building and worked our way down, seeing the stages of construction in real time. We learned a lot! Special shout out to ACE Mentor Mikayla Filippone, Assistant Project Manager at Suffolk, for arranging the tours.

Board President Tom Aldrich of DPR Construction and Board Member Ray Houle of New England Finish join our ED Jen Fries to accept the generous National Gypsum donation.

On November 30, 2021, Giving Tuesday, National Gypsum made an amazing $35,000 donation to the ACE Mentor Program of Greater Boston, on the recommendation of the Portsmouth Gold Bond plant. A huge thank you to everyone who made this possible, especially Ray Houle of New England Finish, who insists on using Gold Bond products in his builds, and to Tony Visconti and James Bennett of National Gypsum. We are so grateful for your support, and we loved the tour, where we saw the product being engineered and manufactured.
